The original 1975 Seiko 6138-0011 chronograph—widely known as the “UFO”—earns its nickname from its uniquely saucer-shaped case and distinctive dial design, giving it an unmistakably extraterrestrial look. This striking vintage timepiece is a joy to wear and collect, showcasing one of Seiko’s finest mass-produced in-house movements. Now approaching 50 years old, this example remains in remarkably close-to-mint condition.
It retains the original dial, handset, tachymeter insert, movement and bracelet. Finding a UFO with such minimal signs of wear and far fewer blemishes than typically seen on watches of this age is increasingly uncommon.
The watch has also been recently serviced. It features a new crystal and has been resealed with a fresh OEM gasket. All mechanical functions perform exactly as intended: the chronograph engages, runs, and resets smoothly, and the pushers and crown operate crisply for time, day, and date setting.
